New SIP Medical Cards
Users of the Servicio Valenciano de Salud (Valencia Health Services) known as the SVS, will start to receive the new SIP medical cards as of June 2016.
These are being prepared for use all over Spain, the new SIP medical cards will be issued accordingly to the necessity of the system, new registrations, renewals etc while the two cards the old and new will both exist for a while until the renewals are complete.
The implementation of the new card will also mean that the registration and updating of the holders details will become easier and much quicker.
Today there are approx: 5.2 million SIP medical cards in the system for which the renewal process is expected to be completed within five years.
The design of the card will be decided by each administration and the Generalitat Valenciana have not released any details on how their card will look.
The information that the new SIP medical cards hold regarding the user will be standardised, there are possible plans that maybe it will include the holders photograph and also some text in Braille.
The Comunidad Valenciana were pioneers in the creation of the original SIP individual medical health card which has become a reference to the rest of Spain.
