24 hour Access to Police Services
During the month of August, a Permanent Police Office (OFIPOL) was installed in Torrevieja, it is only the second in the country following the very successful pilot program in Malaga.
OFIPOL is an innovative project that has been developed in Spain. the facility is designed to allow progressive and efficient care and management between the police and both Spanish and International citizens.
OFIPOL will enable Spanish citizens, foreign residents and tourists the direct access to the police services. It is a smart booth system and is strategically located on the Paseo Vista Alegre in Torrevieja.
Its is adapted for the disabled, deaf, blind and wheel-chairs users, it gives access to a comprehensive system of immediate police assistance that is permanently available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is available in the official Spanish languages, and the most commonly used foreign languages.
The system is designed to allow automatic video conferencing with remote police stations. This all happens in real time and is primarily designed for criminal and administrative complaints plus document processing and renewal of identity certificates and passports with the additional services offering the request of physical protection and assistance against aggression or violent crimes.
Using OFIPOL is very simple, once inside the booth you can select the language you wish to use, and the unit begins to receive the complaint. The attending police officer will ask the user to identify themselves through approved documentation and once the complaint is complete the booth will issue two receipts.
This is a system of innovative technology for public safety, located near the city centre and very easy to use.
