Return of 3% which are retained when selling a property

When you sell a property in Spain the purchaser should according to Spanish law retain 3% of the Title Deed value as a payment on account for your possible capital gains tax.

This amount is paid into the Spanish tax authorities, to which you have to present a declaration in which your capital gained tax is calculated.
